DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The Assessing office is responsible for the preparation of assessments, taxable values and public records on each property in the township. This office also maintains principal resident exemption status, qualified agricultural exemption status and qualified forest property exemption status. The assessing office mails assessment change notices on each property after the annual assessment roll is completed near the end of February.

Tax and assessment information is posted on a monthly basis. For specific payoff information for delinquent taxes please call the Kalamazoo County Treasurer’s office at (269) 384-8124.

HOMESTEAD INFO

November 1st of each year is the date you must own and occupy your home and file the affidavit with the assessor in order to be eligible for the Homeowners Principal Residence Exemption. The millage rate for qualifying property is approximately 18 mills less than non-qualifying properties. New Homeowners must apply; this is not automatic.
