ABOUT THE PARK

Alamo Township owns and maintains Rector Community Park, which is more than 77 acres and includes six baseball fields, two t-ball fields, three distinct walking/hiking trails, park pavilion, wildlife observation deck, playground equipment, and an accessible bridge across Sand Creek. A wildlife preserve has been established along the north-east boundary of the park. The Alamo Little League utilizes Rector Community Park for their baseball, softball, and t-ball programs for children ages four through 15.

ABOUT THE PARK

The Michigan Department of Natural Resources provides a boat launch at Ruppert Lake located in the northwest quadrant of the Township.  Access to the launch is from West B Avenue and 10 parking spaces are available. The access drive is gravel and there is a gravel-surfaced ramp suitable only for medium to small boats. According to the Department of Natural Resources website, they stocked the lake with brown and rainbow trout between 1980 and 2013

ABOUT THE PARK

The Kal-Haven Trail, owned by the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, is the first park of its kind in Michigan, transforming the old Kalamazoo and South Haven railroad bed into a multi-use trail. The 34-mile trail links the City of Kalamazoo with the City of South Haven and Lake Michigan. Approximately six miles of the trail is in Alamo Township and includes a trailhead with parking at the south-east corner of North 6th Street and Hart Drive, as well as two additional rest areas along the trail.
